The Whole History Project

The Whole History Project is the nonprofit arm of our work that is fiscally sponsored by the Partnership Project. Our stories will teach audiences of children and adults the difficult and vital historical subjects that politicians are removing from school curriculums, while also teaching high school, college, and graduate students how to create this type of scholarly yet accessible content.

The William Penn Project

The William Penn Project is a classroom-based learning initiative that explores and shares the history of a segregated African American high school in High Point, North Carolina from its founding in 1892 through its closure in 1968.

This is a short documentary that captures the stories of 3 of the first African American students who attended High Point University (High Point College at the time).

One High Point Commission

The One High Point Commission was established by the High Point City Council in 2022 to explore the issue of reparations for its African American citizens. Drs. Ringel and Summey were content experts who contributed to the final report.

The Life of Elreta Melton Alexander: Activism within the Courts

This book explores the life and contributions of groundbreaking attorney, Elreta Melton Alexander Ralston (1919–98). In 1945 Alexander became the first African American woman to graduate from Columbia Law School. In 1947 she was the first African American woman to practice law in the state of North Carolina, and in 1968 she became the first African American woman to become an elected district court judge.

Commercializing Childhood

In this deeply researched and engaging book, Paul B. Ringel combines an analysis of the stories in nineteenth-century American children's magazines with the backstories of their authors, editors, and publishers to explain how this hugely successful industry trained generations of American children to become genteel consumers
